The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) has officially given Postbank a Financial Services Provider (FSP) license.
This is a big step toward making the bank fully independent and owned by the state after it split from the Post Office in 2019.
This license means that Postbank can now offer a wider range of low-cost banking services to people who live nearby.
It also makes customers feel better because the bank now has to follow the same strict rules and regulations as all the other big banks in South Africa.
Starting in April, there will be new Gold Card swaps.
The bank has also said what the next step in its card replacement program will be.
From mid-April to July 2026, Postbank and SASSA will help the last people who got grants switch from their old gold cards to their new Postbank Black Cards.

Who is affected? There are about 600,000 active gold cardholders in the country.
What has happened so far? By March of last year, about 1.5 million people had already made the switch.
